Referee

With the exception of Referee these credentials may be obtained in any order.

Each credential requires the candidate to pass a theory examination and to satisfy the practical requirement of officiating in the appropriate position as a nominated Technical Official at two carnivals under the supervision of members of the SCAT ALEC.

NSW Swimming also requires that candidates be at least 16 years of age (except for the new position of District Timekeeper where candidates may be 14-16) and have had experience at Club level in the position for which they are studying.

Persons intending ot become Referees must hold each of the other credentials, and a period of three years must have elapsed since gaining the first credential.

Training and examinations are held regularly throughout the season, and may be conducted by any member of the ALEC or by any person holding that accreditation.

If you are interested in becoming a Technical Official please ask your club Secretary to advise you when the next training sessions are to be held or, alternatively, approach a member of the ALEC around the pool.

Successful candidates each receive a card certifying as to their accreditation level. All new Technical Officials also receive cloth badge and a personalised Technical Officials' badge from NSW Swimming.

At the District level SCAT will supply a polo-shirt to all qualified Technical Officials who have worked as an appointed Technical Official at three meets in the District, including one SCAT meet.

All Technical Officials are encouraged to work beyond the SCAT District. The NSW Swimming Association's Championships cannot take place without volunteer Technical Officials.

Nomination Forms for NSW Meets are distributed by the ALEC to Club Secretaries.

Alternatively, Technical Officials may E-mail the NSW Office requesting that they receive a copy of all forms by E-mail. Forms may also be downloaded directly from the NSW Swimming website. The website also contains appointment lists.

All forms must be returned to NSW Swimming via the ALEC Convenor.
